Jesus said to his apostles, ‘As you go, proclaim that the kingdom of heaven is close at hand. Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out devils.
You received without charge, give without charge. Provide yourselves with no gold or silver, not even with a few coppers for your purses, with no haversack for the journey or spare tunic or footwear or a staff, for the workman deserves his keep.
‘Whatever town or village you go into, ask for someone trustworthy and stay with him until you leave. As you enter his house, salute it, and if the house deserves it, let your peace descend upon it; if it does not, let your peace come back to you.’
Scripture: The words in the scripture that spoke to me today are
As you enter his house, salute it, and if the house deserves it, let your peace descend upon it; if it does not,
let your peace come back to you
Observation: What is Jesus saying personally to me today – Put peace out there
As the apostles travel around without anything except faith in Jesus, He asks them to share their peace in him with everyone. He says let it come back to you, which says to me that it goes out first and if it is not deserved or received then let it come back and not be despondent or put off. The point I hear is to put the peace out there, what happens to it is not all that important, what is important that peace is retained and not lost because of someone’s actions.
Thank you for speaking to me Jesus
Application: How do I respond to what Jesus is saying to me today, right now what do I do?
I think that I am overly concerned with how people receive my love, efforts or even the little peace that I have. Today I am trying to bring some type of trust, belief or it could be called piece to 40 people within my workplace. I am worried and nervous but this message of peace is niggling at me. Perhaps I am worried because I don’t feel peaceful and are overly concerned how it will go? I don’t feel that it will be successful if I don’t centre myself in Jesus, seek some of his peace so that I might be able to share this with others.
So before the presentation I will take some time to be with Jesus, to surrender myself to his will so that I can throw some peace around and if it isn’t received then it will come right back to me.
your peace is what I seek.
You have offered this to me so many times.
May my work be you work and your work be mine, one and the same.
Make me a peacemaker in your name.
