Nothing in isolation

Matthew 5:17-19

‘Do not imagine that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to complete them.
In truth I tell you, till heaven and earth disappear, not one dot, not one little stroke, is to disappear from the Law until all its purpose is achieved.

Therefore, anyone who infringes even one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same
will be considered the least in the kingdom of Heaven; but the person who keeps them and teaches them will be considered great in the kingdom of Heaven.

Scripture: The words in the scripture that spoke to me today are

‘Do not imagine that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to complete them.

Observation: What is Jesus saying personally to me today – Nothing in isolation

It is the sum of all things that brings us in to the promise of being with Jesus, God the father and everlasting life. I am not to be distracted with one or two ways of speaking to, being with or interacting with God as there is nothing in isolation. The foundations have been provided in a set of laws that are based, no, are the truth. At the most basic level of being and acting, the commandments are there to be the guiding path, Jesus tops it off and completes them. They will never loose relevancy and it is not to be overlooked when participating on a spiritual journey.

Thank you for speaking to me Jesus

Application: How do I respond to what Jesus is saying today, right now what do I do?

I get distracted and excited when I hear Jesus or the spirit speaking to me. I become focused to the point where I forget past instructions and learnings. The message came quickly and clearly today, I need to keep all the commandments and the one that I have let slip is keeping the sabbath. Keeping a day for God that I am not distracted with work, jobs or watching television. Too many extremes in the way that I live and what a great reminder Jesus provides for this morning. It’s not a message to stop what he has instructed me on, but a message that says nothing is done in isolation and not to forget about the foundations as they are set, solid, real and important. This Sunday is going to be a different day starting with prayer.

you bless me with many gifts and we talk frequently.
I will not forget what you have said and honour your invitation to keep Sunday special and different from the other days.
A time to rest and rest in you is what I will do.
