Not at death but now

What is Jesus saying personally to me today – Not at death but now

Into your hands, O Lord, I entrust my spirit.

Entrusting our spirit is synonymous with the last words of Christ and of handing over to God when we die. The Psalm say that we can and probably should do it not at death but now. Is this surrendering, presenting a great gift back to God in giving our spirit to Him or a part of us dying in to Christ or maybe its all of the above. What ever it is, the message of trusting in God is clear, we trust him with everything including our eternal spirit.

Thank you for speaking to me Jesus

How do I respond to what Jesus is saying personally to me today?

This makes me feel that all my worries and stresses are small fry compared to handing my spirit over to God. I have acted upon a prompting of the spirit and it is incredibly uncomfortable and I am somewhat fearful of the results. It has been received as a loving act which is great but I am left with a mind that is running wild with negative outcomes. All my fears of abandonment are rising and today I need to hand it, and my spirit over to God. I don’t think that I am going to have it done in one day but I don’t feel that there is another choice – sort of good in a way!

Prayer:

Lord,
I hand over everyone and everything to you.
I lay all my fears on the alter for you.
Lead me in love and trust in all my thinking and actions.
Amen

Psalm 30(31):3-4,6,8,16-17

Into your hands, O Lord, I entrust my spirit.
Be a rock of refuge for me,
a mighty stronghold to save me,
for you are my rock, my stronghold.
For your name’s sake, lead me and guide me.
Into your hands, O Lord, I entrust my spirit.
Into your hands I commend my spirit.
It is you who will redeem me, Lord.
As for me, I trust in the Lord:
let me be glad and rejoice in your love.
Into your hands, O Lord, I entrust my spirit.
My life is in your hands, deliver me
from the hands of those who hate me.
Let your face shine on your servant.
Save me in your love.
