I matter

Romans 14:7-12

The life and death of each of us has its influence on others; if we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord, so that alive or dead we belong to the Lord. This explains why Christ both died and came to life: it was so that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living. This is also why you should never pass judgement on a brother or treat him with contempt, as some of you have done. We shall all have to stand before the judgement seat of God; as scripture says: By my life – it is the Lord who speaks – every knee shall bend before me, and every tongue shall praise God. It is to God, therefore, that each of us must give an account of himself.

Scripture:The words in the scripture that spoke to me today are

The life and death of each of us has its influence on others

Observation: What is Jesus saying personally to me today- I matter

I matter, we all matter in the eyes of Christ, our very existence is connected to God as He lives in us so of course we matter. It’s so very easy to judge ourselves and each other based on our values, but there is only one true value, how God sees us and our relationship with Him. This life we have is so short, so precious, why waste it on judgements.

Thank you for speaking to me Jesus

Application: How do I respond to what you are saying personally to me today?

I saw someone die yesterday and while they were receiving CPR, the world went on right beside him. People continued to eat, walk past, watch, talk, life and death went on at the same time before my very eyes. In part, I am wasting time lamenting about struggles and hardship and this is a complete waste of the gift and this takes me away from God. I know that I might not be able to keep this feeling of loving and being in the moment with God all the time but I will use yesterdays experience as a reminder for as long as I can today.

Prayer:

Lord,
Thank you for this precious gift that you give me,
To live with you in this physical world preparing me for the next.
Let me not waste this on redundant thoughts, immature behaviours or on things that are not of you.
May I rejoice in all things knowing that you live within me
Amen
