What is it time for?

What is Jesus saying personally to me today – What is it time for?

There is a time for every human emotion and actions of physical and spiritual nature. If we allow God to guide us to what to do at what time we can take comfort in the trueness of our actions. What we will not know is the full story or meaning in relation to this moment in time. With some confidence we are able to say, I know God wants me to do this right now but I don’t know why. So what is it time for?

How do I respond to what Jesus is saying personally to me today?

I can easily say that I have never known why God has asked something of me until after the fact and sometimes it is not clear until years after. God gives me just enough to hear and know but not enough to understand until its the right time. Right now I feel its time for spiritual birth, dying, planting and uprooting what has been planted all at the same time. I feel this is the right time but have no understanding of it really. On a physical level I know that it time for me to supportive, stable, loving and a witness for someone. Neither are easy jobs but it is the right time and I have to accept what ever this means in the fullness of Gods time and plan will be revealed.
It really is ok not to fully understand.

I hear you say, relax, don’t stress, you have it all under control.
It’s ok for me not to know or understand, that I need to trust you.
My response needs be one of surrender to this right time of yours.
You give me enough to know its you and that’s all I need.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-11

There is a season for everything, a time for every occupation under heaven:
A time for giving birth,
a time for dying;
a time for planting,
a time for uprooting what has been planted.
A time for killing,
a time for healing;
a time for knocking down,
a time for building.
A time for tears,
a time for laughter;
a time for mourning,
a time for dancing.
A time for throwing stones away,
a time for gathering them up;
a time for embracing,
a time to refrain from embracing.
A time for searching,
a time for losing;
a time for keeping,
a time for throwing away.
A time for tearing,
a time for sewing;
a time for keeping silent,
a time for speaking.
A time for loving,
a time for hating;
a time for war,
a time for peace.
What does a man gain for the efforts that he makes? I contemplate the task that God gives mankind to labour at. All that he does is apt for its time; but though he has permitted man to consider time in its wholeness, man cannot comprehend the work of God from beginning to end.

Defined by vanity

What is Jesus saying personally to me today – Defined by vanity

There is a strong sense of the futility of our existence if it is defined by our vanity. No real meaning, purpose, momentary gains, impermanent and not worthy of being remembered. All the things that we achieve and strive for are for nothing unless it is for something that is eternal, our souls and God. Most of the time we don’t even know that our responses and intentions are driven by our vanity or ego, so what will define us?

Thank you for speaking to me Jesus

How do I respond to what Jesus is saying personally to me today?

In the face of being wronged I realise that I am not acting from a place of love, I am acting from a place of vanity. What I know to be right is seperate from the way in which I am responding, not from a position of justice but from my vanity. What is happening doesn’t even matter, it has no consequence to my soul, it is only affecting my sense of status, entitlement and pride. I have to let this go as it is occupying to of much precious little time. Refocus, realign with God, let it go, wash it away as it has no power over me anymore.

Thank you for placing the right priorities in my mind.
Your messages are only for my benefit and show me the way to greater peace and joy.
I release these things that take me away from you and offer everything and everyone to you.

Ecclesiastes 1:2-11

Vanity of vanities, the Preacher says. Vanity of vanities. All is vanity! For all his toil, his toil under the sun, what does man gain by it?
A generation goes, a generation comes, yet the earth stands firm for ever. The sun rises, the sun sets; then to its place it speeds and there it rises. Southward goes the wind, then turns to the north; it turns and turns again; back then to its circling goes the wind. Into the sea all the rivers go, and yet the sea is never filled, and still to their goal the rivers go. All things are wearisome. No man can say that eyes have not had enough of seeing, ears their fill of hearing. What was will be again; what has been done will be done again; and there is nothing new under the sun. Take anything of which it may be said, ‘Look now, this is new.’ Already, long before our time, it existed. Only no memory remains of earlier times, just as in times to come next year itself will not be remembered.

Lost and found

What is Jesus saying personally to me today – Lost and found

Loosing your life is painful, imagine what its like to find it and not just find the old version but the version that is made in Christ. This is the key offering that Jesus delivers in his ministry and everything flows from this lost and found journey. Done with Jesus, this awakening is holy, sacred, blessed, somewhat painful but entirely worth it. Don’t be afraid to lose it, as compared to what is hiding around the corner it is beyond imagination.

Thank you for speaking to me Jesus

How do I respond to what Jesus is saying personally to me today?

I had no idea what losing my life was going to be like until recently, not pleasant at all and a real roller coaster ride of pain and peace. I still don’t entirely understand what this is all about but God is providing some insights and continual messages to keep going, to persist and to journey with my spiritual partner. I don’t have anything other than to continue to lean in to this dying and losing my life with all my heart and when it gets hard, not to give up.

May I be a detached witness to your work within me.
An observer of your grace with an open heart.
Continue to guide and carry me through this great unknown with faith and surrender.

Matthew 16:24-27

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘If anyone wants to be a follower of mine, let him renounce himself and take up his cross and follow me. For anyone who wants to save his life will lose it; but anyone who loses his life for my sake will find it. What, then, will a man gain if he wins the whole world and ruins his life? Or what has a man to offer in exchange for his life?
‘For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and, when he does, he will reward each one according to his behaviour.’

Work hard, Slow down

What is Jesus saying personally to me today – Work hard, Slow down

Flowing water goes where there is least resistance but it also makes it own way overcoming any obstacle even rock. You can manipulate its direction but sooner or later it does its own thing – so too with the desires of God. So when we work hard which is virtuous, we take time, contemplate the intention, be thoughtful about the work and have patience because where and what God wants will take its own direction. So work hard and slow down the mind.

Thank you for speaking to me Jesus

How do I respond to what Jesus is saying personally to me today?

Working hard with haste has been my MOU forever and it leads me to desire, disappointment, closed mindedness, excluding God while I forge the outcomes according to me. This is true with both my physical and spiritual work, so much haste and false sacrifice. Slow down all aspects of myself is what I need to do to respond to the flowing waters of the heart God. I have to return to the slow walk, deliberate words and patience of seeing and hearing Jesus in my life. Today and everyday can be like this so I will practice with intention.

I take the time to allow you to be present, to show yourself in
All aspects of my life.
In my spirit time is irrelevant so i surrender this part of my ego to you.

Proverbs 21:1-6,10-13

Like flowing water is the heart of the king in the hand of the Lord,
who turns it where he pleases.
A man’s conduct may strike him as upright,
the Lord, however, weighs the heart.
To act virtuously and with justice
is more pleasing to the Lord than sacrifice.
Haughty eye, proud heart,
lamp of the wicked, nothing but sin.
The hardworking man is thoughtful, and all is gain;
too much haste, and all that comes of it is want.
To make a fortune with the help of a lying tongue,
such the idle fantasy of those who look for death.
The wicked man’s soul is intent on evil,
he looks on his neighbour with dislike.
When a mocker is punished, the ignorant man grows wiser,
when a wise man is instructed he acquires more knowledge.
The Just One watches the house of the wicked:
he hurls the wicked to destruction.
He who shuts his ear to the poor man’s cry
shall himself plead and not be heard.

Universal vocation

What is Jesus saying personally to me today – Universal vocation

I think what Paul is talking about in this reading is the distinction between vocation and and the use of our gifts. Vocation is a calling, this calling is from God, for us to be drawn in to a life within him, done freely and completely and this vocation lies within the heart of every human. Our work, relationships and other things are where we use our gifts, and perhaps once we drill down in to the real reasons why we do the things we do, it is because we are answering our true vocation, to be with God.

Thank you for speaking to me Jesus

How do I respond to what Jesus is saying personally to me today?

I think that the message for me is to change the narrative around what I have thought are my vocations. Being married is not a vocation, is is just a pathway to answer my true vocation of coming to God and it happens through my marriage. The work I do is not a vocation, it is an opportunity to use my gifts that can bring me and hopefully others closer to our vocation or call to God. My change of language is important, the true reasons are important and not to be lost through interpretation.

I answer my true vocation, this calling that you have placed in my heart.
Let me do justice to this by the way in which I lead my life.
May all the gifts and grace that I have received be nothing else but a way in which shows your love to me and the whole world.

Ephesians 4:1-7,11-13

I, the prisoner in the Lord, implore you to lead a life worthy of your vocation. Bear with one another charitably, in complete selflessness, gentleness and patience. Do all you can to preserve the unity of the Spirit by the peace that binds you together. There is one Body, one Spirit, just as you were all called into one and the same hope when you were called. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God who is Father of all, over all, through all and within all.
Each one of us, however, has been given his own share of grace, given as Christ allotted it. To some, his gift was that they should be apostles; to some, prophets; to some, evangelists; to some, pastors and teachers; so that the saints together make a unity in the work of service, building up the body of Christ. In this way we are all to come to unity in our faith and in our knowledge of the Son of God, until we become the perfect Man, fully mature with the fullness of Christ himself.
