Come as you are

What is Jesus saying personally to me today – Come as you are

The old and the new, the good and the bad, there is no set of expectations from God other than to come as you are and bring everything that you have. There is nothing that is hidden in your cupboard that precludes you, just bring your heart and desire to be with him at the same time. Jesus and HIs angels will help us get rid of the rubbish.

How do I respond to what Jesus is saying personally to me today?

I try to clean out my cupboard before coming to Jesus and when I cant or wont for what ever reason, I can become defeated and I retreat back to old ways. The new way is calling, it is to bring everything I have and do it with Jesus, not sure why I keep forgetting this. I am going to bring my indulgences to Jesus rather than try to hide them and do it by myself.

Prayer:

Lord,
I bring everything to you, all that I have and am.
I will do this with you, no exclusions, old and new.
Amen

Matthew 13:47-52

Jesus said to the crowds: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet cast into the sea that brings in a haul of all kinds. When it is full, the fishermen haul it ashore; then, sitting down, they collect the good ones in a basket and throw away those that are no use. This is how it will be at the end of time: the angels will appear and separate the wicked from the just to throw them into the blazing furnace where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.
‘Have you understood all this?’ They said, ‘Yes.’ And he said to them, ‘Well then, every scribe who becomes a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out from his storeroom things both new and old.’

Come and go at the right time

What is Jesus saying personally to me today – Come and go at the right time

The angels of God ascend and descend, they come and they go continually travelling between heaven and earth. We don’t get to see them but just like Jesus seeing and knowing Nathaniel without his knowledge, the angels are there for us when we need them. Imagine going through this life thinking that we have done it all by ourselves when in fact it was only through divine assistance that we made the journey.

Thank you for speaking to me Jesus

How do I respond to what Jesus is saying personally to me today?

It’s ok to have people come and go in my life. Sometimes it is because they are there at the right time and I don’t need to have them at other times. The same goes for them, they might not need me all the time and there is the key. I don’t have to feel needed all the time, that is just my lack of worth speaking. At least now I am becoming more aware of this so I can treat it by going internally and being with the unseen part me, the angels and the holy presence of God.

Prayer:

Lord,
May I see your work through your holy angels and spirit.
It is not all my work that leads me to you.
Your generosity and love is shown to me through others
May I do the same at the right time.
Help me to accept all of this.
Amen

John 1:47-51

When Jesus saw Nathanael coming he said of him, ‘There is an Israelite who deserves the name, incapable of deceit.’ ‘How do you know me?’ said Nathanael. ‘Before Philip came to call you,’ said Jesus ‘I saw you under the fig tree.’ Nathanael answered, ‘Rabbi, you are the Son of God, you are the King of Israel.’ Jesus replied, ‘You believe that just because I said: I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that.’ And then he added ‘I tell you most solemnly, you will see heaven laid open and, above the Son of Man, the angels of God ascending and descending.’

From and to the creator

What is Jesus saying personally to me today – From and to the creator

If we acknowledge and learn through an experience of relationship with God then we submit to the fact of everything being created by God- everything and everyone. The material or physical existence has a start and end point but it is the spirit or soul that lives on and returns to God. For some of us, our spirit is complete union with God in the world already and Job is one of these people. He knows that all comes from and goes back to the creator and this is his comfort.

How do I respond to what Jesus is saying personally to me today?

There are many things that I think I have made or have some control over. Even walking in the garden this morning I was pleased with myself on how beautiful it was then I remembered that this beauty was not from me, it was all Gods work. All I did was put things in certain places. On a bigger scale it is still the same, it all comes from God and my part in it is small. Today I will look for the beauty in all the small things and give thanks and praise to God.

Prayer:

Lord,
Creator of all, thank you this heaven on earth that you have made for us.
Help me to be so awake that I see you in all the big and small of this world
Amen

Job 1:6-22

One day the Sons of God came to attend on the Lord, and among them was Satan. So the Lord said to Satan, ‘Where have you been?’ ‘Round the earth,’ he answered ‘roaming about.’ So the Lord asked him, ‘Did you notice my servant Job? There is no one like him on the earth: a sound and honest man who fears God and shuns evil.’ ‘Yes,’ Satan said ‘but Job is not God-fearing for nothing, is he? Have you not put a wall round him and his house and all his domain? You have blessed all he undertakes, and his flocks throng the countryside. But stretch out your hand and lay a finger on his possessions: I warrant you, he will curse you to your face.’ ‘Very well,’ the Lord said to Satan ‘all he has is in your power. But keep your hands off his person.’ So Satan left the presence of the Lord.
On the day when Job’s sons and daughters were at their meal and drinking wine at their eldest brother’s house, a messenger came to Job. ‘Your oxen’ he said ‘were at the plough, with the donkeys grazing at their side, when the Sabaeans swept down on them and carried them off. Your servants they put to the sword: I alone escaped to tell you.’ He had not finished speaking when another messenger arrived. ‘The fire of God’ he said ‘has fallen from the heavens and burnt up all your sheep, and your shepherds too: I alone escaped to tell you.’ He had not finished speaking when another messenger arrived. ‘The Chaldaeans,’ he said ‘three bands of them, have raided your camels and made off with them. Your servants they put to the sword: I alone escaped to tell you.’ He had not finished speaking when another messenger arrived. ‘Your sons and daughters’ he said ‘were at their meal and drinking wine at their eldest brother’s house, when suddenly from the wilderness a gale sprang up, and it battered all four corners of the house which fell in on the young people. They are dead: I alone escaped to tell you.’
Job rose and tore his gown and shaved his head. Then falling to the ground he worshipped and said:
‘Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
naked I shall return.
The Lord gave, the Lord has taken back.
Blessed be the name of the Lord!’
In all this misfortune Job committed no sin nor offered any insult to God.

What is it time for?

What is Jesus saying personally to me today – What is it time for?

There is a time for every human emotion and actions of physical and spiritual nature. If we allow God to guide us to what to do at what time we can take comfort in the trueness of our actions. What we will not know is the full story or meaning in relation to this moment in time. With some confidence we are able to say, I know God wants me to do this right now but I don’t know why. So what is it time for?

Thank you for speaking to me Jesus

How do I respond to what Jesus is saying personally to me today?

I can easily say that I have never known why God has asked something of me until after the fact and sometimes it is not clear until years after. God gives me just enough to hear and know but not enough to understand until its the right time. Right now I feel its time for spiritual birth, dying, planting and uprooting what has been planted all at the same time. I feel this is the right time but have no understanding of it really. On a physical level I know that it time for me to supportive, stable, loving and a witness for someone. Neither are easy jobs but it is the right time and I have to accept what ever this means in the fullness of Gods time and plan will be revealed.
It really is ok not to fully understand.

Prayer:

Lord,
I hear you say, relax, don’t stress, you have it all under control.
It’s ok for me not to know or understand, that I need to trust you.
My response needs be one of surrender to this right time of yours.
You give me enough to know its you and that’s all I need.
Amen

Ecclesiastes 3:1-11

There is a season for everything, a time for every occupation under heaven:
A time for giving birth,
a time for dying;
a time for planting,
a time for uprooting what has been planted.
A time for killing,
a time for healing;
a time for knocking down,
a time for building.
A time for tears,
a time for laughter;
a time for mourning,
a time for dancing.
A time for throwing stones away,
a time for gathering them up;
a time for embracing,
a time to refrain from embracing.
A time for searching,
a time for losing;
a time for keeping,
a time for throwing away.
A time for tearing,
a time for sewing;
a time for keeping silent,
a time for speaking.
A time for loving,
a time for hating;
a time for war,
a time for peace.
What does a man gain for the efforts that he makes? I contemplate the task that God gives mankind to labour at. All that he does is apt for its time; but though he has permitted man to consider time in its wholeness, man cannot comprehend the work of God from beginning to end.

Defined by vanity

What is Jesus saying personally to me today – Defined by vanity

There is a strong sense of the futility of our existence if it is defined by our vanity. No real meaning, purpose, momentary gains, impermanent and not worthy of being remembered. All the things that we achieve and strive for are for nothing unless it is for something that is eternal, our souls and God. Most of the time we don’t even know that our responses and intentions are driven by our vanity or ego, so what will define us?

Thank you for speaking to me Jesus

How do I respond to what Jesus is saying personally to me today?

In the face of being wronged I realise that I am not acting from a place of love, I am acting from a place of vanity. What I know to be right is seperate from the way in which I am responding, not from a position of justice but from my vanity. What is happening doesn’t even matter, it has no consequence to my soul, it is only affecting my sense of status, entitlement and pride. I have to let this go as it is occupying to of much precious little time. Refocus, realign with God, let it go, wash it away as it has no power over me anymore.

Prayer:

Lord,
Thank you for placing the right priorities in my mind.
Your messages are only for my benefit and show me the way to greater peace and joy.
I release these things that take me away from you and offer everything and everyone to you.
Amen

Ecclesiastes 1:2-11

Vanity of vanities, the Preacher says. Vanity of vanities. All is vanity! For all his toil, his toil under the sun, what does man gain by it?
A generation goes, a generation comes, yet the earth stands firm for ever. The sun rises, the sun sets; then to its place it speeds and there it rises. Southward goes the wind, then turns to the north; it turns and turns again; back then to its circling goes the wind. Into the sea all the rivers go, and yet the sea is never filled, and still to their goal the rivers go. All things are wearisome. No man can say that eyes have not had enough of seeing, ears their fill of hearing. What was will be again; what has been done will be done again; and there is nothing new under the sun. Take anything of which it may be said, ‘Look now, this is new.’ Already, long before our time, it existed. Only no memory remains of earlier times, just as in times to come next year itself will not be remembered.
